THREE Marketing Benefits from Facebook’s New Insights

By Janette Speyer, Web Success Team –

If you are using Facebook for your branded pages you probably have already noticed that there is a new set of insights that offer great marketing benefits. This actionable, powerful and simple tool allows marketers to better understand their audiences, therefore making it easier fine-tune their messages. In this article, will go over some of the most useful functions.

1. The Overview Tab provides a snapshot of the last 7 days of the data happening on your page. It provides an overview of your page likes, post reach, engagement and activity on your most recent posts.

Benefits: This quick snapshot helps you understand how your audience is reacting to your posts. If you typically create content calendars, the insights will assist you in determining weekly reactions to your messages. This allows you to modify and rework your postings accordingly

2. The Likes Tab. See how many people you have gained or lost each day and find out where they are coming from. You can also see if your likes are paid or organic and you can monitor your unlikes. You can also compare your  average performance over time. Another great addition to Insights is that you can see if some of these like came from Mobile.

Benefits: The more elaborate metrics can help you determine if you need to increase your budget to gain more fans or if you want to invest in an organic strategy like a blogger outreach or another form of organic Facebook engagement.

3. The Reach Tab. Posts that get more likes and comments tend to show up more on the Facebook News Feed and seen by more people. This tab allows you to monitor which posts are getting the most engagement. You can measure your post’s reach and how many likes, comments and shares they garnered.

Benefits: You can actually get a very good overview of how well your content is performing with your audience. The Reach Tab measures which of your posts are getting more engagement over the others you can also click on the post link and it will show you amount of shares, click-thrus, likes and also negative feedback like hide post and report as spam.

I only had space in this article to cover three of Facebook’s powerful new insights tool. But the possibilities are endless. You can also drill down into your likes by demographics, best times to post and also external referrer that sent traffic to your Facebook page.

The more Facebook changes the more it benefits us marketers. We also have to be realistic that a powerful business tool does come at a price. We should get used to paying for it.
